FAQ

At Ella Moda, we’re passionate about bringing your dreams to life through our custom wedding dresses.  We’ll happily answer any questions you may have about our wedding dresses, and our design process. See below for our frequently asked questions, or contact our Brisbane based studio for more details.

When should I begin shopping for my wedding gown?

We recommend you start shopping twelve months prior to your wedding date. If you would like to create a custom couture gown we require you to place your order nine months before your wedding date.

All of our gowns are hand made in our Brisbane atelier using the finest imported couture textiles from around the world. Some fabrics are produced on request and need to be ordered in advance. Sometimes we will need to source a particular fabric and this also takes time. Our couture service has limited availability and often fitting times are booked out six months in advance.

We understand that sometimes couples have short engagements or things don’t go to plan, so if your wedding is within this six month period, drop us an email and we can work on an appointment date for you as soon as possible.

Do I need to book an appointment?

Yes, Ella Moda is an appointment-only showroom. We offer a highly personalised one-on-one couture service which is recommended for brides who are ready to create their dream wedding dress. If you are curious and wish to browse styles we recommend you do a bit of research and bring along your design inspirations.

What should I wear to my appointment?

We recommend that you wear nude underwear and bring along any shape-wear to your appointment.  Most of our gowns don’t require a bra however, if wearing a strapless bra will make you feel more at ease please bring this along to your consultation.

How many people should I bring to my appointment?

We recommend keeping your party to a small number of trusted opinions – we have seating for four in our appointment showroom.

How much is a custom wedding gown?

Our custom couture wedding gowns begin at $6,500. Our ready-to-wear styles are priced between $6,000- $9,000.

How many fittings are involved?

Four to six fittings are required to ensure your gown fits you perfectly on your wedding day. This process usually starts five or six months out from the wedding date.

What if I lose weight?

This is not a problem. Your final wedding dress fitting is as close to your wedding day as possible, where we will make the final adjustments and tailor your gown to your figure.

When do I need to choose my shoes?

Please bring your shoes with you to your third fitting.

Do you charge for appointments?

We do. As a small business with a one-on-one approach we are drastically affected by no-shows and late cancellations. We charge $30 for your first appointment, which is redeemable on your gown purchase.

Do you offer payment plans?

40% is required as a deposit to order your wedding gown fabric, then the balance is broken up into instalments payable at your first three fittings.
