ALANA AND JACK - THE LOVE STORY

HOW DID YOU AND YOUR PARTNER MEET?

My husband, Jack, and I met at a triathlon club.

Was there a moment you knew they were “the one”?

I knew he was the one when he was sick as a dog with the flu and came on a charity bike ride with me, for a cause close to my heart.

Can you share a little about your proposal?

We were up at Noosa for the Noosa triathlon. We had just attended the presentation ceremony and then Jack told me some of our friends were having a picnic at sunset on the beach and that we should go find them. He asked me to have a look on the beach to try to find them, and in that moment he got down on one knee. We then had celebrations and a dinner with some of our closest friends.

The Wedding

How would you describe the feeling or atmosphere you wanted for your wedding day?

We wanted to have the best party of our lives. While we wanted to have a lovely ceremony with our family and friends, our top priority was for everyone to have fun, namely by having a great dance floor. Becky, and her amazing team at Between the Covers really delivered on this one!

Did you have any particular inspiration, theme, or vision in mind?

As we were getting married in Spring, we went for a pastel colour palette. My four bridesmaids each wore a different pastel coloured dress (blue, green, yellow and pink) (from Caitlin Crisp) and this informed the flowers and decor choices. We also had a beautiful backdrop with Maleny Manor as our venue, so the rolling hills and aesthetic of our venue also played a huge roll in shaping our vision and choices for our day.

What drew you to Ella Moda?

One of my bridesmaids bought her wedding dress from Ella Moda, which was beautiful. I was also particularly drawn to the customized process – I’d never had a dress made specifically for me (rather than buying a dress off the shelf and having to make alterations). This made the whole process so personal and special and resulted in my dress fitting me perfectly.

Can you describe the moment you first tried on your gown?

I felt like an absolute princess!

Were there any custom touches or special details that felt especially personal?

I choice to order sleeves for the dress that I could take on or off throughout the day. I loved this detailed because it meant I could have a different look with the same dress.

What was the most emotional moment for you on the day?

The vows and the card Jack wrote to me, which I opened when I was getting ready.

What was the reaction when they first saw you in your gown?

With love! It was so special revealing my dress to my Dad, in particular.

If you could relive one moment, what would it be?

Our vows and our dance floor. I’ve never felt more loved than when Jack said his vows to me, and never had more fun than on our dance floor.

Was there an unexpected detail that ended up being one of your favourites?

I was surprised at home much I loved the optional sleeves on my gown! I also loved having a veil – it really tied the whole look together.

In one word, how did you feel walking down the aisle?

The most beautiful I’ve ever felt.

How did your gown make you feel throughout the day?

Like a princess. It fit perfectly, something I was initially worried with by having a strapless dress and was so comfortable to walk around in.

What advice would you give brides just beginning their gown journey?

Be open minded. Try on as many different dress styles as possible. I never expected to pick a strapless wedding dress, but I’m so glad I did
