ADELINE IN HONEY

From a chance meeting at a Brisbane rooftop bar to a proposal disguised as a video shoot, this couple’s love story is filled with thoughtful surprises and moments that confirmed they were building a future together. While their first kiss hinted at something special, it was moving in together just a year later that made the bride realise Patrick was the man she wanted to spend her life with — and the future father of her children.

Patrick’s proposal was every bit as creative as his profession. Planning a weekend getaway to Montville, he convinced his bride-to-be they were filming a concept video for a well-known Australian tea brand at Spicers Clovelly Estate. Despite an unexpected bout of food poisoning threatening to derail the day, she pushed through the “shoot,” unaware that Patrick was quietly preparing to ask the biggest question of his life. As she turned to admire the view, he dropped to one knee and proposed.

When it came to planning their wedding, the couple envisioned a celebration inspired by the French word champêtre — a day that felt romantic, relaxed, and immersed in nature. Surrounded by forest, wildflowers, and kangaroos, they created an intimate celebration that reflected the bride’s French heritage and their shared love of meaningful, heartfelt moments.

For her gown, the bride chose Honey after searching for more than a year. Reminded of the wildflowers of the French Alps where she grew up, she knew the design was special from the moment she first saw it. “As soon as I put the Honey dress on, we all cried. There was no doubt it was the one.”

Below, the bride shares her story in her own words.

ADELINE AND PATRICK - THE LOVE STORY

HOW DID YOU AND YOUR PARTNER MEET?

We meet at Maya, formerly called Eleven roof top bar, in Brisbane.

Was there a moment you knew they were “the one”?

At our first kiss, I didn’t know he would be the one the one but I knew it was going to last for a little while. Then we moved in together a year later and it was going all so well, I knew he would be the father of my kids.

Can you share a little about your proposal?

Patrick did really good. He booked a getaway to Montville. As a videographer he told me he would shoot a concept video for a well known Australian tea brand. As we have done that many times I didn’t question it. I had to put a nice flower dress, get my nails and hair done, make up on and all.

He drove me to Spicers Clovelly Estate to start the « video shoot ». After 30 min in I unfortunately experienced some food poisoning from a sandwich I grabbed at lunch time.

Poor Patrick was already thinking he needed a plan B.

But I managed to get through it and kept « shooting » .

At the end of the video shoot he asked me to spin around, stop and look in the distance. That is when he went down on one knee and proposed!

The Wedding

How would you describe the feeling or atmosphere you wanted for your wedding day?

The best way to describe it would be to champêtre which means wild flowers in French. We wanted a close wedding, not too formal, with a nature component. We were sure ding by forest and kangaroos everywhere, it felt very cosy.

What drew you to Ella Moda?

The flowery dresses that really reminded me of the champêtre flowers from the French Apls which is where I am from. When I saw Honey on instagram I instantly knew it was the one.

My MOH convinced me to go shop for different dresses but nothing was good enough. I tried the Honey last after 1.5 years of looking and she was just perfect!

Can you describe the moment you first tried on your gown?

On that day I managed to get all my bridesmaids together and we went to 2 shops before Ella Moda. We’ve tried on some very beautiful dresses with a wow effect.

I also tried on a few dresses at Ella Moda, all beautiful. But as soon as I put the Honey dress on we all cried. There was no doubt it was the one!

What was the most emotional moment for you on the day?

When my mum came into the room to see me before taking me do an the aisle.

How did your partner react when they first saw you in your gown?

Lots of crying

If you could relive one moment, what would it be?

There are too many to say but if I could pick one it might be the first dance.

In one word, how did you feel walking down the aisle?

I felt nervous

How did your gown make you feel throughout the day?

I felt amazing. It was fitting me so perfectly! No only I felt beautiful but also confortable.
