ADELE IN VESPER
From a first date in Sydney where Adele and Adam told each other they had found their “rainbow,” to a viral wedding celebration on the Amalfi Coast, their love story is one of deep connection, joy, and timeless romance. Married at Torre Normanna in Maiori, their day was a vision of Italian decadence, alive with chandeliers, olives, lemons, and guests who had travelled from across the world to celebrate.
For her gown, Adele chose the Vesper, customised with an extended train and delicate off-shoulder lace straps. “I kept adding metres to the train — a cascade of gorgeous flowers, and I have no regrets. It felt elegant, sophisticated, but also unique and completely me.”
Below, Adele shares her story in her own words.
ADELE AND ADAM - THE LOVE STORY
HOW DID YOU AND YOUR PARTNER MEET?
It was during Covid, both new to Sydney, I came from Europe with a work visa and he just moved from Brisbane to Sydney with his job. So we met online via the app Hinge. On our very first day we shared deep joys and sorrows in our lives and deeply connected. At the end of the date we told each other we felt we had just found each others rainbow
Was there a moment you knew they were “the one”?
For me it was pretty much immediately… Adam was in disbilief for a bit, as he said, that I’d be so serious about us. I came across strong confident and resilient, he is funny incredibly kind and gentle. We were and are such different personalities but it just felt right. I felt incredibly at ease with him, friends would tell us we acted as we were married for years, we were comfortable around each other, normal as if we had known each other since ever. With that feeling, we knew.
Can you share a little about your proposal?
This was a bit of an up and down. Adam has taken me to ring shopping at the beginning of the year 2023 and I knew we had picked a stone and a design we were both happy with. And yet it was mid year and he hadn’t proposed so I was a bit anxious always wondering which day would be the day, but he took his time! Then one night – very random night, I thought, he suggests we go back to the restaurant where we had our first date, and as we get ready for the night he puts on a playlist we had started working on for the wedding, as we were talking about the wedding we were dreaming of. So I started collecting queues that night! And in fact as we were at the restaurant, he requested the same table where we were sitting on that first date… and eventually he went down on one knee in the side of the table and asked: would you like to spend the rest of our lives annoying each other? And I said – of course – yes!!!! Everyone in the restaurant cheered! Brought champagne and a girl next to us said she had been taking pictures of us and that special moment and sent them to us! So grateful. We then cried and laughed, it was such a wonderful moment!!!
The Wedding
How would you describe the feeling or atmosphere you wanted for your wedding day?
We wanted a colorful happy environment! We wanted the typical Italian decadent vibe, I really was set on chandeliers and we both agreed the theme had to be olive and lemons and those colours. Olive is recurring in my life and Adam was happy to embrace it. We ended up with a matching tattoo of an olive branch on our wrists during our honeymoon.
Did you have any particular inspiration, theme, or vision in mind?
Yes olive and lemons, Amalfi where I’m from.
What drew you to Ella Moda?
I had been looking for my dress in Sydney visiting literally every atelier. I thought I had found the dress, and I was looking on instagram for inspiration for a party dress. I bumped into Ella Moda instagram page and I saw Vesper…. It was just so different so special and precious, so unique…. I said to myself: I need to try this, and if it fits me then this is THE DRESS. I then started looking into Ella moda and learnt about Ella and that she designs and creates all the gowns and absolutely loved the idea of having someone hand make my dress with such maestry, it was exactly what I deserved for my magical big day!
Can you describe the moment you first tried on your gown?
Oh I was so happy that it looked great on me!!!! I really wanted it to be the one!!!! I was terrified it wouldn’t look good on me because of my body shape and features, but as I had it on, it just felt MINE!!!!
Yes, I kept adding meters to the trail and I have no regrets!!!!! A cascade of gorgeous flowers!!!
What was the most emotional moment for you on the day?
Oh so many….. seeing my dad so proud, seeing my future husband so emotional and teary, all the love of friends and family who literally travelled from everywhere in the world to be there, Australia, USA, Germany, UK… and then the moment we saw the dining room, we had only seen the project the wedding planners crated for us but could t really picture it all together, and when we saw what we had put together, we were just so in disbilief – it was spectacular – there’s a video of us of this moment that went absolutely viral on TikTok with 5.6M views and 200k likes!!!!
What was the reaction when they first saw you in your gown?
My mother in law came with me to the appointment, as they live in the Gold Coast. And she had no doubt Vesper was the one, she immediately said I looked incredibly beautiful and it just suited me so well. My father in law didn’t want to see it until the day! He just couldn’t stop crying on the day, and that was everything!
If you could relive one moment, what would it be?
Absolutely the entire day, like in those movies where they wake up and it’s the same day over and over again? For me it would be the day of the wedding. From the second we woke up, till the end of the day. So hard to pick one moment only…..
Was there an unexpected detail that ended up being one of your favourites?
Yes! Green candles on the tables hahaha we really weren’t sure but trusted our expert wedding planners! They had gone above and beyond to find the perfect green to match Adam’s suit!!!!
In one word, how did you feel walking down the aisle?
In disbilief that that was me…. Wow!!!!
How did your gown make you feel throughout the day?
Like a queen on the most exatatic day!!!!! I felt elegant and sophisticated but also unique and original. I felt myself!!!!
What advice would you give brides just beginning their gown journey?
To not get fixated on a specific style or design. Let the dress find you!!!! Vesper couldn’t be more far away from anything I had in mind, but when I saw the dress and I wasn’t even sure a style like that would look good on me, I had to try it and find out because it just spoke to me!!!! So I booked my flight!
